New species of frog discovered in Vietnam

With fieldwork comes great reward, such as the discovery of a new species. This one comes a little late for Year Of the Frog (which was last year), but it is still very exciting!

Vietnamese and Australian scientists found the first recorded specimens of Leptobrachium leucops, living at an altitude of between 1,558 and 1,900 meters along the border between Lam Dong and Khanh Hoa provinces. The upper portion of the creature's irises are white, the news site reported. The animal is also distinguished from similar frogs by its small body size and dark belly.To read the full article, click here.
