Chewable Medicated Treat

My problem was that I have 4 cats, which have to be on medication...one chronic and the others every so often. I have tried all the over the counter items that attempt to "cover" the pill. The problem is that my kitties always eat the "cover" and spit the pill out. I really do not care to pill them because they tend to always run from me every time they see me afterwards.
I finally found something that works GREAT! BCP Veterinary Pharmacy custom makes every prescription. They use raw chemicals, instead of the bulky pills which contain a lot of fillers, and which are evenly distributed throughout this TREAT! It's really soft and chewy like a treat and you can pick your flavor. I got the flavors from their website:
Flavors:
Dogs and Cats: beef, tuna, liver, chicken, fish, and seafood
Rabbits and Ferrets: yogurt, and peanut butter
Horses: sweet feed, and alfalfa
Primates and Birds: banana, cherry, apple, raisin, apricot, and cranberry
(All are real fruit not artificial flavoring)
The best part is that they can put more than one medication into the chew so it's all in one. My cats LOVE them. I literally can just place one on the floor and it's eaten immediately. So easy! Also, my vet told me that if I needed to give half a dose, all I would need to do is give half the chew.
I spoke with one of the pharmacists who told me they actually do a lot more than just the VetChews. They also have flavored liquids, capsules, insulin, injectables, and transdermals. I didn't know what transdermals were but apparently they can mix the drug into a gel that's rubbed into the pets ear where it's absorbed into the bloodstream that way. Wow.. If ever I have a problem with the VetChews, Im going that route.
They also told me they have made "soaks" for frogs where the frog is placed in a small aquarium with the drug mixed with their water and it's soaked into the skin.
I got a friend to start using them for her diabetic cat. They have a Pure Beef PZI (BCP PZI) injectable which has regulated her kitty and she has been thrilled with it.
After looking at their website it seems that they work with almost all pets, even zoo animals. You can even ask your veterinarian to fill out a form from their website and fax it in for free samples. I just love this place and the pharmacists are so friendly and knowledgeable and always are finding new was to increase compliance! Good Job BCP

CONS:
*If you have more than one animal, the others get jealous because they think it's a treat.
*Solution: Ask BCP to send "blank" (non-Medicated) treats for the others.
