Pancake, a Kemp's ridley sea turtle gets released back to the wild

Every fall there are stories of cold stunned turtles on the East Coast and in spring and summer, their release stories brighten our days. Pancake is one of the more recent rehab successes! They are so cute! Pancake is an unsexed junenile Kemp's ridley that ended up on a beach in Massachutes last year. After months of rehab with Atlantic Marine Conservation Society’s Sea Turtle Care Facility in Westhampton Beach after a short stint at the New England Aquarium, Pancake got a clean bill of health and the release was set!

Before they released Pancake, experts attached a satellite transmitter to the top of its shell. The device will function for up to 90 days, sharing Pancake’s location in real time.
