You are so right! People are taken back when I talk to them about my pet reptiles. Usually I will talk about something funny they did and refer to them by their name like "Joe" or "Indiana" and people will ask what type of cat or dog I have and I will tell them it is a reptile. Which usually results in a weird look, lol? So I will explain to them what they are and what makes them so cool. It's amazing, since Steve Irwin's unfortunate death we have had no Public Ambassador for reptiles. His enthusiasm was infectious with people who watched him on TV. So with Steve gone it is up to all of us to pick up his torch and run with it. When people see your passion for what we do they can't help but take you slightly more serious than they did before. People have a harder time thinking negatively about our hobby and pets when their confronted with our loving passion for these animals.
