I would say release it very near to where you found it and it will probably do fine. Survival instincts that have evolved over millions of years cannot be forgotten over a 6 month period! LOL Otherwise, find a shelter or someone into reptiles and let them take care of it. :If it has stayed in reasonable condition by eating through most of the winter, then I think you should take it back to the exact spot that you found it and release it. :Be aware that there are studies to suggest that some snakes may not survive if released into a new area, so release it where you found it, or give it to someone else to care for.
I have to agree with Chris, the only way there could be a danger is if you keep other reptiles. If this is the only reptile you have and have only fed it pinkies/fuzzies, then it should not have any more nasties than any other snake out in the wild. Most WC snakes are chock full of parasites and and or bacteria/viruses. That is why if you legally acquire one, you should quarentine it from the rest of your collection and have a health check completed by a vet.

:I don't think you need to be concerned with transfer of disease/parasites unless you have other wild caught herps in the house. There aren't very many pathogens that can be transferred from mammals to reptiles.
