Snapping Turtle rescue

Hi,
I rescued an older snapping turtle from a drainage ditch here in town. I would have left him alone but the neighborhood kids had discovered him and was throwing large rocks in on top of him. I feared for his safty as well as the childrens' safty. Now I need someone to tell me what to do with him?? Thanks Rafiki
