Bipes is rumored to occur in Arizona, and there is an old record probably of Bipes in California, and of course there are suggestions of occurence in Colorado. However, if the man's yard is in the USA, this could be the first confirmation of Bipes in the USA. Personally, I'd snap it up and investigate the origin and whether it is one of the recognized species. Bipes biporus occurs closest, but the three known species occur closer to each other than any does to the US. An extensive study was conducted of their habits in Baja. I believe they usually occur under litter in loose soil. Some amphisbaenians are known to attack larger creatures, biting out pieces, so they may not be good community animals.
