I think hibernation worries all of us who keep turtles. Even with my guys who can easily handle the winter here, I still bite my nails a bit each winter knowing they are out there asleep under snow, or ice, or just cold wet. I've done fridge hibernation, and it was better for me personally. I much preferred being able to look at them and check on them as I felt the need. I stopped when one of my female boxies laid eggs while hibernating. Very odd, but I figured if I was going to have them outdoors, I shouldn't mess with moving them in for hibernation. I think I was just screwing with their clocks by mixing the indoor and out and hibernation.
So far it's still early enough in the year that the spotteds and woods are the only noticeably active ones. We've had lots of hot days, but still nights are cold and plenty of cool days. The boxies are sneaking out to eat and going right back into their mulch piles.
