I had a young female once that was in with a young (just maturing) male. He made several attempts at breeding her over the course of a few months.
Sure enough, that fall she began nesting. But there was a big problem......she couldn't get the eggs out from between the openings of her carapace and plastron. She was still too young/small (around 10" which is small for a Colombian). She would sit over her nest for hours with nothing happening before I had to intervene and break the eggs that were lodged in her cloaca. Not a fun experience. I had to do this for most of the eggs that she produced for the next two years. Finally, she was large enough and I never had a problem with her again. I did learn a lesson though. If I had not helped her she surely would have died. I have NEVER allowed an immature female with a mature male since.
