These tegus are very eager (and entertaining) feeders. Our pair did the same thing; anytime we opened the door, they thought it was chow time and would literally jump right out of their cages. Though these little adventures seldom resulted in a bite, we decided to "re-train" them a bit in offering prey on a dish and placing the dish into the cage (same place every time). We now notice much more consistent behaviors (and they will even go sit by the area where we place the feeding dish waiting for their food)...something to consider.

:hi i just got a new 15" Choacoan yesterday and he has already eaten twice and seems very healthy... but anyway i slowy put my hand (palm up) in the tank to try and pet him and he tried to bite me... this happened a couple times any suggestions?
:thanks in advance
