sorry for your loss. it seems that you were trying hard to help Timmy. I still say that softshells (even american ones) are among the hardest turtles to keep healthy. Hopefully you can look at your early husbandry practices and learn something from them. Sometimes though, even working hard to the best of the current knowledge in care cannot defeat an opportunistic infection. Again, i am sorry he's gone. I hope you won't give up on helping turtles. Its people who know a lot like you who are the most useful to the hobby/industry in terms of generating info for future captive propagation projects....soon all of the turtles (even species which seem common now) will need our help.
