:Since there seems to be at least several people here who have significant field experience with Rosys and an implied confidence with locale types why questions about the identification of snakes by folks like IanMuir and dementedgoose have gone without corroborated response?

>>When trying to ID a locality just by a picture or even in person it can never be done with 100% accuracy. It's like if you were to take 10 wild caught Rosies and say these are wc guess the locality chances are that with a large sample of known wc Rosies most experienced collecters would get it right. But when you are talking about a single unknown specimen you can never be sure. Once me and some friends caught several Rosies in Pioneertown, CA. They were all typical soft orange jagged stripes on a gray background except for one that was dark brown jagged stripes and a silver background. It looked just like an AZ Dome Rock Mtns. locality right down to the railroad tracks on the belly. This one was found in a dark colored rock outcrop, the others were found in orange colored rock outcrops. So with a single animal you can never tell for sure, it could be the exception. And if it's captive born there is also the chance that it could be a mixed locality. Don't get me wrong all Rosies are great, but without keeping track you can never tell 100% just by looking.
