I have stopped everything. All my cresteds are separated and have been for a long time. I only had my male in with Rayne for about 3 days a month ago.

As for the protein...that's all Drako really eats in Crix...he rarely touches his Babyfood, unless hand fed. He is also parasite free. So it doesn't make any sense why he has 'always' been so thin then. Could it just be normal for him?

As for waiting until next season to breed again. I just started. I have only mated my male ONCE with one female. LOL and I would hate for my other non-mated female (Venus) to keep laying infertile eggs. I can't really stop her now, unless I drop temps (would be hard because summer in on the way). I wonder if I should put Drako in anyway with Venus just for a few days...At least she has a better chance of laying fertile eggs than infertile ones. What do I have to lose? Beside both my females are very healthy and FAT....lol...really fat. they both weigh close to 50g. They are 18 months old and just started to lay this year. Rayne is only laying her 2nd clutch today. Plus it has been a long time since the move. Quite a few months now.

I'm not trying to argue or disagree, but I just hate for her to lay infertile eggs all season. At least she may have a chance to have a few if I put Drako in for a bit. If it doesn't seem to work I'll stop. She is due again anyday now so I could put him a week later. This will be her 3rd clutch. What do you think?? Should I try? If she gets mad or upset I'll take him out and then just leave her until next season.

Let me know what you think,
Liz

:Well Liz the only thing I can tell you at this point is to stop everything. Do not introduce the females to the males anymore and separate everyone. Let all the gravid females run their course and once they stop leave them till next season. If the eggs are fertile then great, if not there is always next year. They can use the time to gain weight and rid any excess stress they have (breeding, moving, laying, etc). But you are right it is a waste of their resources to lay if they are not going to hatch. Drako needs protein not baby food. If he is not eating crix you need to mix meat baby food and fruit (1:2). Without it he will not get the nutrients he needs. Or pick up Allen’s Auirc diet (has more protein then the others). Anyway I have thought of pretty much everything I can think of based off all the info you gave. However sometimes these things need to be observed. Like I said, I would just let them run their course for now and leave them be.
