I always do my own fecals. 900x is plenty powerful enough for a DYI fecal. Perhaps even a bit overpowered for general parasite identification. Most of the parasites you'll be looking for can be easily found and identified at 100x/400x. There's plenty of good websites out there with pics of all the different parasites/eggs to help you in the identification process. Vets can overlook things as well, so it's not a bad idea to learn how to do it yourself. This way if you did need to take your animal to the vet for a followup fecal, you would at least be able to tell them you saw something under your own microscope, and you want them to investigate it further. Trust me, they're less likely to overlook something if you tell them ahead of time what to look for. An educated herp owner is a better herp owner.
