I think it may just be so that the young in the wild better camoflage with their earthy jungle floor surroundings so as to not get picked off by predators. As they become larger and less vulnerable their colors emerge. Just a theory.

:I've noticed that a lot of Jampea Dwarf retics usually have a dull, muddled look to them. Their colors aren't as intense as other retics. They seem to lack the pronounced yellows, and appear more grey.

:Is this typical of the Jampea locality?
:Do their colors intensify with age?
