You can buy a veggie clip for $0.99...basically a plastic clip with a suction cup--or-- lead weight strips that you can twist around the base of the plant --or-- just let them float (the safest is the veggie clip)...if your water turns acidic the lead weights may release something harmful...oh and be sure to thoroughly clean the plants before introducing them to your turtle (you may get snails---which have been known to harbor parasites)...water hyacinths are awesome grow them outside in a bucket or small kiddie pool then clean and drop a few plants in the tank...my turtle munches on the entire plant (crunching noises:)


:I am consider getting edible water plants like anacharis or water hyacinth (read they are ok for turtles). The petstore had then but the base where the roots are look like the need something to anchor them. I have virtually no substrate to minimize the cleaning. Any tips? Can I just put them in?
