I just checked the key again and it said M. ocellatus will have 43 to 47 dorsal ocellae and M. meridionalis will not.
It also said that M. ocellatus will typically have a yellowish background coloration. But of course my all male clutch of M. ocellatus did have at least one specimen that has grown up to me very drab in coloration (no yellow).
I do think a lot of people would enjoy working with these.
I really liked the M. colubrina so that's why I bought all those specimens mentioned in my first post. They were sold to me as M. colubrina.
So I got the group and it was clear that none of them were M. colubrina. Then the female died and all her offspring turned out to me males. So I was stuck with something like 13 or 14 males of one species and a geriatric pair of the species I prefered.
So out of frustation I sold all of them.
With hindsight I would have kept 2.0 of the hatchlings and waited for females. A lot have come in since then.
