Hi Kristin

The rearfang area is rather muddled. For ones that are dangerous or able to cause significant envenomation, this includes but is not limited to Dispholidus typus (boomslang), Thelotornis species (twig snakes), Rhabdophis species (Asian keelbacks). Other which may cause mild to moderate (but may be severe in exceptional circumstances) include Boiga speces. Many others are very much question marks. There is some very cute stuff going on with the venom that we have been studying.

Your choice of the Asian vine snake (Ahaetulla species) may not necessarily be the best unless you have a steady supply of feeder lizards. They simply will not eat anything else. Boiga dendrophila (mangrove snakes) on the other hand will eat just about anything. I would personally recommend Leioheterodon madagascarensis (Madagascar giant hognosed). They are stunning, big and mellow.
