Anyone do black and white photography?

I'm enrolled in photography this semester and I've been taking tons of pictures of my babies. However, I constantly have a huge problem with lighting since I have to use so many lenses to get close ups of my very small baby tortoises. Any one else have this problem? My project is due Wednesday, I'm excited to show the class my work.
