kcastellucci-- If the "boil" feels like a hard lump under the skin, more than likely it's an abcess. Reptiles are somewhat strange in that when they get an infection, the "puss" material gets hard, unlike mammals where it usually remains as a fluid. Sometimes these puss clumps (if that's what it is) will work there way out on their own and will come out like a hard pimple. Sometimes these are quite large. (It's pretty gross.) If it was my turtle and it lasted this long, I'd make a small incision, pop it out, clean the wound thoroughly, and keep the water really clean until it heals up. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, you can have a vet do it for you. --Maxx
