I think your intentions are great, but I don't think that working without pay at the pet store is the solution. First of all, they would be completely taking advantage of you. They are a business, not a charity; it is not a place for volunteers. Secondly, you can't be there at all hours of the day. If the pet store is not interested in taking care of the animals properly, they will probably not relay the proper care of the animals to customers either; which just means more dead igs in a year or two.

It's entirely up to you what course of action you want to take, but I think if you can get through to some of the staff about the basic requirements for iguana care and ask them to carry accurate information (like a NIAD pamphlet)to give to customers, that would be time better spent than trying to care for the animals yourself; which could prove to be trying and difficult.

I spent a lot of time in the store talking to them about iguana care and handling some of the iguanas and I told them I may come back later just to see how things were going. First I wanted to get the iguanas out of there but then I figured they'd just get more (+ where do I put 10 iguanas?????). So now I want to see if they'll let me take care of the iguanas myself while they're in the store and help people who want to purchase them. My problem is how to approach these people? I'm not expecting any sort of pay but do you think they'll look kindly on my interference? Has anyone had experience with this before? Thanks!
