:I would say that Herby is full grown. So, when did she have the first clutch of eggs? Does she look fat and/or lumpy? If she has been under the care of your vet and you have given her calcium supplements as you mentioned in your email and she is soaking she should be in as good shape as is possible. Just make sure she has a nice soft substrate to dig a nest in to encourage her to lay and watch for signs that she is having problems. If she does lay them on her own you will see a lot of digging activity when she decides she has soaked enough. If she is having problems she likely lay down with her head on the substrate and turn very dark.

:There isn't really anything you can do to make sure she won't have problems other than to make sure she is as healthy as possible and that her environment is correct.

Do I put the container of correct substrate in her cage or do I take her out and put her in the container? How big should this dish be? Her cage is tall but not that wide (36"high x 20" square). I would have to remove one water dish and her tunnel, is that ok? She would still have her vines, the bubbler bowl and her tall branching climbing wood thingy.

You guys are a godsend--I've learned more daily grind stuff from you all in the last week than I have since Christmas. My vet is good and I'm comfortable with her but doesn't see a lot of MHD's. She's extrapolating some but not all of her advice from her experience with other reptiles. She did induce the eggs well in early January and correctly treated the dry rot with amputation. We're still having some trouble with that and we think we'll put her back on the oral antibiotics if I can figure out how to get her to open her mouth without major tools and 3 pairs of hands :-P
