Hi Michelle,

That totally blows. From what I know and have been told a monitor takes in all the calcium from the food and vitamins and normally the remainder is pooped out. But in some cases the animal can't eject the calcium out of their system and it builds up in small bone like balls on the monitors skeleton. I've been told that these can be removed by cutting them off. X-Rays can determine where they're attached for removal. Again I'm not sure of how factual this is. But I hope this info helps. Definitly contact the vet though.
My good friend Croc has two of those on it's tail and I've heard of monitors getting them and that is what their vet have told them that's what "it could be".
