As you know, I had my first training seminar at Petco, and I believe it went VERY well. There were 4 stores represented by their managers, animal care employees, the District Manager and the Regional Companion Animal Coordinator for Northern California and Nevada. It was well recieved, interactive, with lots of really good questions. I had care sheet hand-outs, a copy of The Leopard Gecko Manual, and took 3 of my Leos with me. I had a 88 gram male high-yellow, a 60 gram female patternless, and a sub-adult female hypo-tangerine so they could see what they look like when they are adults as well as what a healthy Leo should look like, and how to sex them.
I could not get out of the place after the training because so many had cornered me wanting more information! The District Manager actually put her arms around me and hugged me! They were so hungry for information....
What happened after the seminar disturbed and sickened me beyond words. I am reluctant to post this for 3 reasons: It would violate the Forum's rules, I could face legal action for making it public, and it would most certainly undo the ground work that has already been established with PetCorp. Let's just say that the problems with Petco go MUCH deeper than what is seen in the stores. What I saw made me "rabid," and it was all I could do to remain calm and not call the police or the SPCA.
This is only a speck of sand in the whole beach, and we have a very long way to go.
