Ahh....the nervous and nippy speckled. Beautiful kings. Most kings, captive or wild, will usually switch to frozen thawed with no problems. You'll just have to try and see. Start with small weanlings and go from there.
Most adult speckleds top out around 3-3.5', but can grow larger. I kept speckleds about 10 years ago, and most of mine were in the 3' range. They are one of the easiest of the kings to breed, often breeding within a week of coming out of brumation. They are capable of laying large clutches, for their small size. Eggs are a bit smaller than most other kings, but babies are usually easy to get going.....hence the nippy nature of most adults. They should calm down a bit after they learn to tolerate your company. Good luck and keep us posted on the feeding trials.

:Hello, someone i knew just gave me a speckled kingsnake. It was wild caught when it was young, and sence then is still eating on live mice. I was wondering what is the best way to get the snake to start to eat frozen mice. The snake is pretty big now, being around 3ft.. How much growing does he have? And is there a way i can tell if its a male or female? Its not tame at all, biteing me 3 times today, luckly i had gloves on. He's a beautiful snake, and i would like him to be very happy and healthy, so please anyone who can help me please do.. ^_^
