Wow, another from B.A. That wal-mart is always packed, and they are building another Super Wally on the other side of town. This place is growing. Good luck this year with your hogs and keep in touch. I would like to hear how your year turns out ;)

: I don't jump on many bandwagons but this one will do. I also have lived in Broken arrow. I lived on the 1000 block of 71st- near the new Super WM.It was being built when I moved Back to Texas.I have been keeping hognose for 14 yrs. My collection has ranged from 1 hog to 161( during a good breeding year.)Now I'm content to be only working with 36 animals.Hopefully this will be a good year for breeding and I will consider creating a web site. The females are pounding down food right now, so proper body weight won't be a problem. Last year, out of 45 adult females and 15 males, only 2 pairs sucessfully bred. One clutch 14 eggs, 13 hatched. Next clutch 7, 5 bad eggs and 1 that didn't hatch.The year before, 9 females laid and 2 clutches were very large. !st clutch 25 eggs, 23 hatched. 2nd clutch 23 and all hatched with 7-8'' huge babies. Needless to say, from the trend that has begun, at least around here, I am hoping for a very good year. Please respond if you Would like.

::Yes, you can tell the difference. even as hatchlings. The male will have a much longer slender tail, while the female will have a shorter stubbier tail. here is a link

:::I have a 1.1 pair of young westerns. They are about six months old, maybe a little older. Anyway, the tails are noticeably different sizes. Is this a reliable way to tell which is which or is it still too early. Thanks for responding.
