Provent a Mite is GREAT stuff. I have used it on hundreds of animals and have never had a problem. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully. Spray a cardboard box filled with some paper towel with the spray. Put the snake in it while you REALLY CLEAN the cage. Spray the cage and then put the snake back in. If the infection is really bad you can spray the snake but avoid the face and whipe it off as soon as possible. Keeping the cage as sterile as possible and frequent soaking will both help get rid of mites even faster.

On a side note, I would NOT use BlackKight spray. I used to work for a pet store and we tried black night on several of our animals. It worked OK on the large aninamls but several baby snakes including a blood python, ball python, and a carpet python, were all found dead the day after being treated with Black Knight. It turns out that the spray is a modified roach insecticide and is not safe with very small animals. Like i said I have never had a problem with provent-a-mite.
Good luck with your mite problem.
