Since you live in the phillipines, what about trying to learn about and breed some of the local snakes. Very little is known about captive requirements of many of the Phillipine snakes. Maybe you could contribute some useful information to the hobby (and lead to increased interest in your native snakes). I know they would be hard to come by, but there is certainly a lot to be learned. For example, I don't know if anyone has ever bred/kept the beautiful Phillipine Rat Snake ("Elaphe" erythrura). Check local animal markets - they might be a source of some breeding stock if you can't get them in the wild.

If you could produce some of the less common Phillipine species like this, you might be able to export cb specimens to eager herpers here and really build your collection in exchange (if you ever wanted to get back into such common things as the North American species).
