he'll help you id it, i'm having somewhat of a similar proble, i'm goign to be emailing him a picture of my "armadillo lizard" in a couple of days, i am fairly sure that mine is a tropical girdled lizard, but i'll wait and see what he says.

if you can;t get a picture, then i don't know what to tell you to do.
your setup sounds ok. if yours is spoiled being in a 20, how's this? my little guy has a 42x32x18 enclosure all to himself.
he does the basking thing when undisturbed, but as soon as i walk into the room he gets ready to run, if i get too close to his enclosure he hides in his "house" (a piece of rock, slate i think, with a space for him to hide underneath.

let us know what turns out.
