We saw three Galapagos Snakes, roughly 30-inch serpents looking a lot like ribbon snakes. One crossed our path on the plateau atop one of the islands, perhaps a couple hundred feet above sea level. The other two were in rocks near the shore , a couple of feet above sea level, on a different island. One of the latter snakes left the protection of the crevice it was in and crawled between my daughter's feet while a half a dozen people watched and oohed and aahed. The snakes, like other Galapagos wildlife, shows little fear of man.
