TPWD Gassing Regulations

Does anyone know for sure if John Herron at TPWD will propose method of take regulations to the Commission, as to rattlesnake harvesting with the use of gasoline and sprayers this year?

There is no reasonable excuse or logic for gasoline to even be used in harvesting wildlife. Arbitrarily dumping or spraying gasoline is banned in most states, our wildlife biologists, Arizona Game and Fish Department employees are still taken aback with the notion that it would even be considered as an option. To even consider gasoline as a method of take or as a sound and responsible tradition for wildlife management by seasonal roundups in Texas is absurd. TPWD is letting this go to far.

For years I've tried to reason, plead, and even rail at Sweetwater for this practice, but it has occured to me in the last couple of years that the bulk of the problem is with TPWD, TNRCC, and maybe not enough support from Texas citizens to bring about change. I'm leaving Sweetwater alone this year, I'm of the strong opinion that this is TPWD's fault.

Roundups will continue in Texas. Even with the Painter/Fitzgerald report it seems that atrox can sustain the levels of harvest, but it would be my hope that gasoline will be banned once and for all as a method of take.

Thanks for letting me vent. Michael, I wish you the best with TPWD and the Roundup Season coming up very shortly.

Kind Regards,
