I'd Like Your Thoughts on These Ideas

If I can find a dealer of the UV "non-filtering" glass (Starfire,
etc.) I was thinking of trying a couple of things.

1 Have a window or two re-glazed with it so the lizards can sit
in front on it in the winter. During the summer I can just
use the window screen.

2 For now my little rhino "Orson" lives in a Neodesha cage. I
have an incandecsent UV bulb pointing at it on one end. He gets
a nice hot spot of about 110 F and the other side is 75-80F.
Since the front of the cage is plexiglass he gets no UVs.
Presently I open the cage and let him sit under the direct light
for some time each day. What if I had a piece of "Starfire"
glass cut to fit the cage?

What do you guys think? Are these old hat tricks that everyone
else has been doing for years? Are there flaws here that I'm
not seeing?

Thank you,

Brian
