I used calcisand for about a week in the cage of my water dragon (rip) I heard it was sposed to be digestable also, but after using it a week, and hearing other peoples horror stories with it, and seeing what a mess it made, I got rid of it. I wouldn't reccomend it for corns, since they preffer leaf litter and the like in the wild. And I'd be afraid of ingesting, just because I haven't heard anyone have a good experience with it yet.

I've used paper towels, newspaper, and carefresh in my corn cages, and preffer shredded aspen bedding so far, they love to burrow in it, and it is easy to spot clean.

Mine also hide out for a few days while in blue, and then shed within a day or two of clearing up. Check the shed skin to see that it's all there, and check out the snake too, as long as the humidity is good you should have a nice little memento of your snakes first shed;)

How long till you add snake #2? ;)

:hi. i'm a new user to this site and i just got a corn snake about a month ago. i just wanted to know what kinds of substrate people use for their corns and which ones are the best. i'm currently using some calcium sand which is both ingestible and digestible, i just listened to the guy at the pet store. also is it normal for corns to become inactive while shedding? mine has been for the past couple of days and i noticed that his eyes have turned milky which suggests that it's time to shed. your answers will be greatly appreciated. thank you.
