I like that pine shavings idea (same as you would use with a hamster or gerbil, right?). I'm going to try that when my latest order of 1000 crix gets here. Smell was certainly becoming an issue with the crix. Thanks.

:Hi- When I don't have silkworms, I also order crickets in bulk of 1000 at a time. I keep mine in a 18gal Rubbermaid tub with a screen top. I put wood shavings on the bottom of it. I have never had any smells come from them! I don't use oatmeal or corn meal because the crickets will eat it and there is allot of there feces in with it on the bottom, and if it get moist or wet it will mold fast. The wood chips allow the cricket feces to drop threw to the bottom of the tub. I also don't use cricket bites, fruits and veggies are a much better source of water for crickets and more nutritional for them and your chameleons. I have pics of my cricket tub on my web site click the link below! Hope this helps!

::Currently I keep about 500 crickets at a time in a big rubbermaid bin w/ plenty of egg crate, food and water bites. About a week after getting a new shipment, I have to clean out the whole bin because it stinks so bad.

::Is there anything I can do to reduce the stink? Can I add some kind of substrate or something? If there's anything, let me know!
