Question about screening for cages...

I have heard a few ideas about what people use for screens. 1/4 inch hardware cloth is good for not getting toes stuck, but lets crickets out. Aluminum screening works well keeping crickets in, but toes can get caught. Orion is a screen-climber (she was climing the roof at the pet store, and even manages to get to the front screen of her tank). I am worried about keeping the crickets in, but also about toes getting caught. She MAY be ok with a tall trash can for a cricket feeder, and that would keep crickets in, but she may not take to that. I have been cup feeding her, and she doesn't seem to go for them as much as when they are out and about.
So, the only option I can think of is to use the harware cloth stapled inside the frame, and screen stapled on the outside to keep crickets in. Is there any other way? It seems a bit much...
