While the other posters make some good points I think that ball pythons are good snakes for beginners. Many years ago I bought a sub adult from a pet store and it never ate and died. that was the first and last time i have ever bought a snake from a pet store. The seven I have now were all purchased from reptile shows. Six as babies and one adult. The adult took several months to eat and was very frustrating( I would not recommend that for a beginner). However the other six have been great. Four of them will eat f/t with no problems and the other two still will only take live. Thats not the most ideal but its not terrible. It could be worse. It would be better if you could get one from a breeder but if any reptile shows are coming to your area i would check them out. Corns are also great beginner snakes and are easier than balls but imo not by leaps and bounds. Hope this helps. Good luck. EP
