It was my first snake and has always been a great eater, but I am the exception not the norm. Most adult balls will go off feed for no reason, if they are CBB and are healthy. This is normal for the snake but most newbies don't realize this and think their snakes should eat EVERY week no matter what. Thats why the ball forum is constantly flooded with "whats wrong with my ball, he won't eat?" questions. In my opinion a corn snake or rosy boa, or even a jungle carpet python would be a better first snake.
