It depends what kind and where they live. Most Southerns, E. multicarinata, do not brumate. Most Northerns, E. coerulea, do brumate. I would think that Panamints, E. panamintina, due to the locality where they live and the elevation, probably do but I do not know for sure. You can find them out basking in 50 degree temps on sunny CA days and foraging at 65 deg. Even so, if you get up into the mountains or up north, Alligators probably do brumate. Personally, I keep mine awake all winter and feed them.
