Re: I've been asked to do a presentation on snakes and their habitats. Anyone know how closesly dependant snakes actually are to the habitat/plant structures? Or is it simply a matter of their habitat being the place where their preferred prey is?

Natural selection is in response to the immediate environment of an organism. It is the environment that determines how any organism evolves. For this reason it is impossible to dissociate the snake (in your case) from the habitat or envirnment. Moving an organism to a different place may result in its decline. The snake's prey is part of its environment, so this plays a role in its evolution as well. I hope this helps, and would encourage you to read up on some aspects of evolution, as this would be helpful in your presentation.
Philip.
