Indigenous to West Africa, the African Fat Tail is one of the most popular geckos in the exotic pet world. They are characterized as having a docile personality with beautiful chocolate colored bands and a fat tail. They can grow up to 8 to 10 inches long and have a life span of 20 to 25 years. With the proliferation of captive born hatchlings, new and exciting morphs have begun to emerge.

Colors like peach, khaki, green, and leucistic are highly sought after by enthusiasts and commercial breeders. As each breeding season passes, more new morphs begin to surface. Some fat tails have a beautiful white stripe that runs down their back. These are becoming more common, but are still a very popular phase.
