SECTION 6 - BIBLIOGRAPHY AND ACKNOWLEGMENTS:
The following is a series of books and articles that we feel are especially useful for people interested in snakes. The Coburn and Mehrtens books primarily focus on pictures (Mehrtens, less so) but give an excellent idea of the variety of snakes worldwide. The Conant and Stebbins volumes are the primary field guides for reptiles and amphibians I the United States. Markel, and Walls represent examples of books written for hobbyists and are part of a large number of similar volumes covering different groups of snakes (as well as other herps). Ross and Marzac, the Rossi volumes, and the Schmidt book are excellent volumes dealing with the husbandry of snakes. The book by Greene is an excellent overview of all aspects of snake biology and taxonomy. Finally, the article by Kluge published in a scientific journal is included here because it is an important example of the kinds of studies done by herpetologists to understand the taxonomic relationships of different species.
