ROUGH EARTH SNAKE Virginia striatula (Linnaeus, 1766) 

STATUS:  Common

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise

HABITAT:  Trinity River Bottoms, Eastern Cross Timbers, Western Cross Timbers, Mesquite Grand Prairie, Fort Worth Prairie, Blackland Prairie, and Brazos River Bottoms

COMMENTS:  One of the few snakes that is common in residentual areas.
