MASSASAUGA Sistrurus catenatus (Rafinesque, 1818) STATUS: Common DOCUMENTED COUNTIES: Dallas, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Tarrant, and Wise HABITAT: Fort Worth Prairie, Western Cross Timbers, and Rolling Plains SUBSPECIES: Western Massasauga S. c. tergeminus (Say, 1823) COMMENTS: The massasauga is commonly found at night on roads in the southwestern part of the Metroplex.  |
