STATUS:  Rare

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas, Ellis, and Tarrant

HABITAT:  Western Cross Timbers and Fort Worth Prairie

SUBSPECIES:  Eastern Earless Lizard (H. m. perspicua Axtell, 1956)

COMMENTS:  There are no recent records of the eastern earless lizard in any of these counties. I have not found H. m. perspicua, so the photos are of H. m. approximans.
