STATUS:  Very Rare

DOCUMENTED COUNTIES:  Dallas and Denton

HABITAT:  Trinity River Bottoms

SUBSPECIES:  Western Mudsnake (F. a. reinwardtii Schlegel, 1837)

COMMENTS:  The fact that the western mudsnake very rarely leaves its habitat of swampy areas makes it difficult to find.
