TSHS Reptile
Rescue
TSHS is dedicated to saving the lives of reptiles and amphibians in
distress. We will rescue or relocate animals that are either in need of
medical attention, a new or better home, or have wandered onto your property
uninvited.
We are located in and around Pittsburgh, PA and have members that cover a
wide area. Some of us are even willing to drive a considerable distance for
cold blooded friends. Even if you think you may be too far away, give us a
try, we may surprise you! (Please try to keep it to PA, and states that
closely border southwestern PA).
There are only three dangerous (venomous) snakes in Pennsylvania, the
Northern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix mokasen), the Timber
Rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus horridus), and the massasauga (Sistrurus
catenatus catenatus). If in doubt as to what has wandered onto your
property, give us a call, Don't kill it!, it is most likely harmless.
We will keep all rescues discrete and not involve any media. Reptiles don't
need any more negative representation in the news media. We do everything
possible to educate the public with the correct information relating to
reptiles.
Before calling, please try to estimate (Without putting yourself in danger)
the type and size of the reptile.
We may also be able to take or find a home for your unwanted reptiles. Did
it get too big, children get tired of it, moving, whatever the reason, give
us a try.
