The Tri-State Herpetological Society

Welcome to the Tri-State Herpetological Society's new and improved website

This page is constantly under construction so keep checking back.

Our Beliefs:

With the belief that all Herpefauna throughout the world, including reptiles amphibians, and arthropods, are invaluable for human survival, the TSHS is committed to accentuating their importance by.

Educating the public with programs and expos to ensure that they understand these animals and the importance they have on our lives.

Fully endorsing the practice of captive breeding as to provide for the survival of the species in nature.

Providing our members with information and knowledge, to enable them to be responsible keepers in our society.

Assisting as much as we can, the scientific studies of herpefauna throughout the world so that we too can understand these creatures to their fullest.

Providing an outlet for keepers in the area with a group that they can feel comfortable with.

The TSHS meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Nuin center near the Pittsburgh Zoo. Anybody is welcome to sit in on one of our meetings. A membership of $15 per year entitles you to special events, field trips to animal exhibits and zoos, usually with behind the scenes tours, and a subscription to our Herpetological Herald. Each meeting includes an educational program, whether it be a local doctor speaking about the effects of venom, or a slide show provided by one of our members recalling a herpetological event in their life. Refreshments are provided and free discussion is encouraged.
