Venom researchers are notoriously out of date regarding the taxonomy of the snakes studied, and even worse the editors of journals are just as hopeless. This is even at the one that specialises in toxins,! This sad state of affairs makes the data published essentially worthless since if the snake has not been identified properly, the results are unlikely to be reproduceable.
