So
named for a red circle that was present on his nose as a
hatchling, Rudy was one of the only animals in his clutch to go
through a "mite phase" color transition. Unlike the
more typical black speckling that some animals display during
ontogenesis, Rudy became covered with red and rust-colored
speckling ...it made for a novel and breathtakingly beautiful
color shift.
