This animal is
virtually impossible to photograph in a way that truly
brings home the contrast that is evident between the
intense greens and turquoise blues that cover this
one-of-a-kind animal. This male was produced by two
animals of Houston Zoo origin. He was a normally colored
and patterned yellow baby. The blue blotches started to
appear during ontogenesis.

|
This animal is not the only instance of this morph to be
produced by the Houston zoo pairing ...at least one other animal
with this paradoxical patterning was produced. The whereabouts
of that animal are unknown.
This lineage has been responsible for the production of a number
of extremely special animals, of which the paradox form is only
one. Prior to the completion of ontogenesis many of the
yearlings from this group are yellow and blue with no green and
many adults are extremely high yellow.
